Desire for Happiness

Matthew 6:31-33New International Version (NIV)

31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

"If we seek happiness as a goal, then we will be frustrated. We will never quite get all we need to make us happy all the time. And we will also become very selfish: my pursuit of happiness becomes more important than my concern for your welfare. Happiness is a wonderful quality and it is natural to seek it. But more as a desire than a goal." - David Reay
