Lead us Forward

2 Corinthians 2:14-17 New International Version (NIV)   14  But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ’s triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere.  15  For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.  16  To the one we are an aroma that brings death; to the other, an aroma that brings life. And who is equal to such a task?  17  Unlike so many, we do not peddle the word of God for profit. On the contrary, in Christ we speak before God with sincerity, as those sent from God.

Show Me The Way

John 14:6 New Living Translation (NLT)   6  Jesus told him,  “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.

Helping Others Do What Is Right

Sometimes we have to make hard decisions in our lives in order to do the right things by others and by God. Sometimes we need to make personal sacrifices and go through trials in order to bring about necessary change. When God moves you to act on behalf of someone who is hurting, then listen, and (more importantly) act, no matter how hard it may be. God sees what you go through. He knows. He has called each of us to serve Him by loving others. We must put aside our fears and simply love. Romans 15:1-8 New Living Translation (NLT) Living to Please Others   1  We who are strong must be considerate of those who are sensitive about things like this. We must not just please ourselves.  2  We should help others do what is right and build them up in the Lord.  3  For even Christ didn’t live to please himself. As the Scriptures say, “The insults of those who insult you, O God, have fallen on me.” [ a ]   4  Such things were written in...

Thanks to God

Colossians 1:3-6 Good News Translation (GNT) 3  We always give thanks to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you. 4  For we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of your love for all God's people. 5  When the true message, the Good News, first came to you, you heard about the hope it offers. So your faith and love are based on what you hope for, which is kept safe for you in heaven. 6  The gospel keeps bringing blessings and is spreading throughout the world, just as it has among you ever since the day you first heard about the grace of God and came to know it as it really is.

Never Alone

Psalm 23 New King James Version (NKJV) A Psalm of David.   1  The LORD  is  my shepherd;          I shall not want.   2  He makes me to lie down in green pastures;          He leads me beside the still waters.   3  He restores my soul;          He leads me in the paths of righteousness          For His name’s sake.            4  Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,          I will fear no evil;          For You  are  with me;          Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.   ...

Proven Faith

Matthew 17:20 (NIV) He replied, “Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” Matthew 21:21 (NIV) Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done.

Waiting With Joy

1 Thessalonians 1:2-10 New King James Version (NKJV) Their Good Example 2   We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers,   3 remembering without ceasing your work of faith, labor of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ in the sight of our God and Father,   4   knowing, beloved brethren, your election by God.   5   For our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit and in much assurance, as you know what kind of men we were among you for your sake.   6   And you became followers of us and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Spirit,   7   so that you became examples to all in Macedonia and Achaia who believe.   8   For from you the word of the Lord has sounded forth, not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place. Your faith toward God has gone out, so that we do...

The Ultimate Sacrifice

Follow Him

Matthew 10:27-42 New King James Version (NKJV) Jesus Teaches the Fear of God     27  “Whatever I tell you in the dark, speak in the light; and what you hear in the ear, preach on the housetops.  28  And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.  29  Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will.  30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.  31  Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. Confess Christ Before Men     32  “Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven.  33  But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven. Christ Brings Division     34  “Do not think that I came to bri...

God Saves

Ephesians 2:8-10 New Living Translation (NLT) 8 God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. 9 Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. 10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

There You Go, Saving Me

Psalm 107:13 New King James Version (NKJV)   13  Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble,           And  He saved them out of their distresses. Sleepwalking    'Sleepwalking' by Caitlin Harnett *Photograph copyright 2011 R. Harriott

Knowing The Son

Matthew 11:25-30 New International Version (NIV) The Father Revealed in the Son   25  At that time Jesus said,  “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children.   26  Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do.     27  “All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.     28  “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.   29  Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.   30  For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” *Photographs copyright 2010 Rosie Harriott

It's Christmas

Luke 2:11 New International Version (NIV) 11  Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.

Like Children

Matthew 18:3 New International Version (NIV) 3  And he said:  “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

The Way

"You go through life, so sure of where you're heading... And you wind up lost, and it's the best thing that could happen. 'Cause sometimes when you lose your way, it's really just as well..." - Brad Paisley (Find Yourself) Psalm 86:11 New King James Version (NKJV)   11  Teach me Your way, O LORD;          I will walk in Your truth;           Unite my heart to fear Your name.

True Love

Galatians 5:22-23 New Living Translation (NLT)   22 But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!

Love Is Raining Down...

"Deep within I feel my soul is stirring... as though my hope has been restored."  - Casting Crowns (God Is With Us)

Life With God

Jude 1:20-21 New King James Version (NKJV) Maintain Your Life with God     20  But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, 21  keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

Grace

James 4:6 New Century Version (NCV) 6 But God gives us even more grace, as the Scripture says,     "God is against the proud,        but he gives grace to the humble."

In Him We Are Strong

2 Corinthians 4:7- 10 Good News Translation (GNT) 7 Yet we who have this spiritual treasure are like common clay pots, in order to show that the supreme power belongs to God, not to us. 8 We are often troubled, but not crushed; sometimes in doubt, but never in despair;9 there are many enemies, but we are never without a friend; and though badly hurt at times, we are not destroyed. 10 At all times we carry in our mortal bodies the death of Jesus, so that his life also may be seen in our bodies.

Hope In God Alone

Psalm 42:11 New King James Version (NKJV)   11  Why are you cast down, O my soul?          And why are you disquieted within me?           Hope in God;           For I shall yet praise Him,           The help of my countenance and my God. *photograph copyright 2011 Rosie Harriott

Imagine...

The True Meaning of Christmas

Hebrews 2:14-17 New Living Translation (NLT)   14  Because God’s children are human beings—made of flesh and blood—the Son also became flesh and blood. For only as a human being could he die, and only by dying could he break the power of the devil, who had [ a ]  the power of death.  15  Only in this way could he set free all who have lived their lives as slaves to the fear of dying.   16  We also know that the Son did not come to help angels; he came to help the descendants of Abraham.  17  Therefore, it was necessary for him to be made in every respect like us, his brothers and sisters, [ b ]  so that he could be our merciful and faithful High Priest before God. Then he could offer a sacrifice that would take away the sins of the people.

Trust You

1 Kings 17:13-16 New King James Version (NKJV) 13 And Elijah said to her, “Do not fear; go and do as you have said, but make me a small cake from it first, and bring it to me; and afterward make some for yourself and your son. 14 For thus says the LORD God of Israel: ‘The bin of flour shall not be used up, nor shall the jar of oil run dry, until the day the LORD sends rain on the earth.’” 15 So she went away and did according to the word of Elijah; and she and he and her household ate for many days. 16 The bin of flour was not used up, nor did the jar of oil run dry, according to the word of the LORD which He spoke by Elijah

Trust In Him - He Will Not Fail You

1 Peter 4:12-19 New Living Translation (NLT) Suffering for Being a Christian   12  Dear friends, don’t be surprised at the fiery trials you are going through, as if something strange were happening to you.  13  Instead, be very glad—for these trials make you partners with Christ in his suffering, so that you will have the wonderful joy of seeing his glory when it is revealed to all the world.   14  So be happy when you are insulted for being a Christian, [ a ]  for then the glorious Spirit of God [ b ]  rests upon you. [ c ]   15  If you suffer, however, it must not be for murder, stealing, making trouble, or prying into other people’s affairs.  16  But it is no shame to suffer for being a Christian. Praise God for the privilege of being called by his name!  17  For the time has come for judgment, and it must begin with God’s household. And if judgment begins with us, what terrible fate awaits those w...

We wait for more...

2 Corinthians 5:1- 11 New International Version (NIV) 1 For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands. 2 Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, 3 because when we are clothed, we will not be found naked. 4 For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. 5 Now the one who has fashioned us for this very purpose is God, who has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. 6 Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. 7 For we live by faith, not by sight. 8 We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord. 9 So we make it our goal to please him, whe...

God Is With Us

*Photograph copyright Rosie Harriott 2011 Zephaniah 3:17 New Living Translation (NLT)   17  For the L ord  your God is living among you.       He is a mighty Saviour.    He will take delight in you with gladness.       With his love, he will calm all your fears. [ a ]       He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.

He must be in everything...

Psalm 127:1-2 New International Version (NIV)   1  Unless the LORD builds the house,    the builders labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city,    the guards stand watch in vain. 2  In vain you rise early    and stay up late, toiling for food to eat—    for he grants sleep to [ a ]  those he loves.

Nothing Compares...

Romans 8:18 Good News Translation (GNT)   18 I consider that what we suffer at this present time cannot be compared at all with the glory that is going to be revealed to us.   Isaiah 40:18 Good News Translation (GNT)   18 To whom can God be compared?       How can you describe what he is like?

Ask The Animals or The Birds...

Job 12:7-13 New Century Version (NCV)         7  "But ask the animals, and they will teach you,         or ask the birds of the air, and they will tell you.          8  Speak to the earth, and it will teach you,         or let the fish of the sea tell you.          9  Every one of these knows         that the hand of the Lord has done this.    10  The life of every creature         and the breath of all people are in God's hand.   11  The ear tests words         as the tongue tastes food.   12  Older people are wise,         and long life brings understanding.    13  "But only God has wisdom and power,         good advice and understanding. ...

Wait... And The Sun Will Find You

Complete Joy

John 15:10-11 New International Version (NIV) 10 If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. 11 I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.

I See The Light

Psalm 56:13 For you have rescued me from death; you have kept my feet from slipping. So now I can walk in your presence, O God, in your life-giving  light . Psalm 89:15 Happy are those who hear the joyful call to worship, for they will walk in the  light  of your presence, Lord. Ephesians 1:18 I pray that your hearts will be flooded with  light  so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance.

We were broken, abandoned...

2 Corinthians 4:9 New Century Version (NCV) 9 We are persecuted, but God does not leave us. We are hurt sometimes, but we are not destroyed.

Orphans, Kingdoms

Psalm 10:16-18 New Living Translation (NLT)   16  The L ord  is king forever and ever!       The godless nations will vanish from the land.   17  L ord , you know the hopes of the helpless.       Surely you will hear their cries and comfort them.   18  You will bring justice to the orphans and the oppressed,       so mere people can no longer terrify them.

According to His Mercy...

Titus 3:4-7 New King James Version (NKJV) 4 But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, 5 not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, 6 whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

His Faithful Love Endures

Psalm 107:1-15 New Living Translation (NLT)   1  Give thanks to the L ord , for he is good!       His faithful love endures forever.   2  Has the L ord  redeemed you? Then speak out!       Tell others he has redeemed you from your enemies.   3  For he has gathered the exiles from many lands,       from east and west,       from north and south.   4  Some wandered in the wilderness,       lost and homeless.   5  Hungry and thirsty,       they nearly died.   6  “L ord , help!” they cried in their trouble,       and he rescued them from their distress.   7  He led them straight to safety,       to a city where they could live.   8  Let them praise the L ord  for his great love       and for the wonderful things he has...
