Strengthening Faith

To have faith

Hebrews 11:1 Good News Translation (GNT) 11  To have faith is to be sure of the things we hope for, to be certain of the things we cannot see.

Trust

"God wants you to trust Him enough to be happy, even if it doesn't happen your way." - Leona Clausing

Given to Him

"Oh it is an infinite inheritance! Oh, it is an infinite privilege to be permitted thus to give ourselves up to the One who pledges Himself to make us all that we would love to be; nay, all that His infinite wisdom, power, and love will delight to accomplish in us!" - Springs in the Valley (June 29)

In Awe

Psalm 65:8 New Living Translation (NLT) 8  Those who live at the ends of the earth      stand in awe of your wonders. From where the sun rises to where it sets,      you inspire shouts of joy.

Blessed Work

Deuteronomy 24:19 English Standard Version (ESV) 19 “When you reap your harvest in your field and forget a sheaf in the field, you shall not go back to get it. It shall be for the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow, that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hands.

With us

Jeremiah 23:24 New Century Version (NCV) 24  No one can hide      where I cannot see him,” says the  Lord .      “I fill all of heaven and earth,” says the  Lord .

God with us

The Lord is Faithful

2 Thessalonians 3:3-5 New Century Version (NCV) 3  But the Lord is faithful and will give you strength and will protect you from the Evil One.  4  The Lord makes us feel sure that you are doing and will continue to do the things we told you.  5  May the Lord lead your hearts into God’s love and Christ’s patience.

Praise to God

"One of the great oases in life is when the soul is caught up in praise to God. But in heaven we shall not just be caught up in it; we shall be lost in it. Here our praise is just a rehearsal; there it will be a realisation." - Mick Brooks

Prepared for Usefulness

"Be still, and let God temper and polish you, and you will be worth something, too. Allow yourself to be prepared for usefulness. He will give you a post of holy renown of you will let Him fit you for it." - R. V. Lawrence

Rise Up

Isaiah 40:30-31 New Century Version (NCV) 30  Even children become tired and need to rest,      and young people trip and fall. 31  But the people who trust the  Lord  will become strong again. They will rise up as an eagle in the sky;      they will run and not need rest;      they will walk and not become tired.

God's Plan

By His Spirit

"You may seem altogether helpless and inadequate; but a living fountain of oil is prepared to furnish you with inexhaustible supplies: Not by your might or power but by His Spirit ." - Springs in the Valley (June 22)

Don't be afraid

Matthew 10:31 “So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.”

Be still

"Be still my soul and rest Humbly I confess In my weakness Your strength is perfect" - Steffany Gretzinger

To Know Christ

Philippians 3: 8-11 GNB I reckon everything as complete loss for the sake of what is so much more valuable, the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have thrown everything away; I consider it all as mere refuse, so that I may gain Christ and be completely united with him. I no longer have a righteousness of my own, the kind that is gained by obeying the Law. I now have the righteousness that is given through faith in Christ, the righteousness that comes from God and is based on faith. All I want is to know Christ and to experience the power of his resurrection, to share in his sufferings and become like him in his death, in the hope that I myself will be raised from death to life.

God's Plans

The Sweet Falling Dew

"God feeds the wildflowers in the lonely mountainside without the help of any man, and they are as fresh and lovely as those that are daily watched over in our gardens. So God can feed His own planted ones without the help of man, by the sweet falling dew on his spirit." - Robert Murray McCheyne

As Christ's Servants

Ephesians 6:5-8 The Message (MSG) 5-8  Servants, respectfully obey your earthly masters but always with an eye to obeying the  real  master, Christ. Don’t just do what you have to do to get by, but work heartily, as Christ’s servants doing what God wants you to do. And work with a smile on your face, always keeping in mind that no matter who happens to be giving the orders, you’re really serving God. Good work will get you good pay from the Master, regardless of whether you are slave or free.

Only God...

"My soul, thou wait only  upon God; for my expectation is from him. He only  is my rock and my salvation; he is my defense; I shall not be moved." - Springs in the Valley (June 18)

Draw Near

" Now rid of the shackles,  My victory's yours, I tore the veil for you to come close, There's no reason to stand at a distance anymore, You're not far from home." - Stephanie Gretzinger

According to His Mind

"Whether the request be according to His will or not, God will by His Word and His Spirit teach those who are teachable and who will give Him time. Let us withdraw our requests if they are not according to God's mind, or persevere until the answer comes." - Springs in the Valley (June 16)

An Inheritence

1 Peter 1:3-4  Good News Translation (GNT) A Living Hope 3  Let us give thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! Because of his great mercy he gave us new life by raising Jesus Christ from death. This fills us with a living hope, 4  and so we look forward to possessing the rich blessings that God keeps for his people. He keeps them for you in heaven, where they cannot decay or spoil or fade away. " Knowing that we have such an inheritance in the future enables us to live differently in the present. We can take risks for Christ, knowing that our future is safe. We can be generous with our stuff, because our treasure is in Heaven. We can endure loss, rejection, and even death for Christ in this life, knowing that in the next life we will have prosperity, peace, and joy in His presence forever." - Jonathon Kroeker

Empty Vessels

2 Kings 4:1-7 New King James Version (NKJV) Elisha and the Widow’s Oil 4  A certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried out to Elisha, saying, “Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that your servant feared the  Lord . And the creditor is coming to take my two sons to be his slaves.” 2  So Elisha said to her, “What shall I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house?” And she said, “Your maidservant has nothing in the house but a jar of oil.” 3  Then he said, “Go, borrow vessels from everywhere, from all your neighbors—empty vessels; do not gather just a few.  4  And when you have come in, you shall shut the door behind you and your sons; then pour it into all those vessels, and set aside the full ones.” 5  So she went from him and shut the door behind her and her sons, who brought  the vessels  to her; and she poured  it  out.  6  Now it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she sa...

Have Faith

Never Cease

With Faith and Courage...

"Endure with faith and courage through the frost and you will see a glorious spring." - Springs in the Valley, June 13.

Our Best Self

Psalm 26:2 New International Version (NIV) 2 Test me, Lord, and try me,     examine my heart and my mind " It is a mistake to assume conversion is merely an event: getting prayer at a Christian meeting, finally seeing the sense of the Bible, making some heroic gesture of faith in the midst of overwhelming difficulties. Conversion is not only an event but a process. We may become Christians just once, but we need to go on being Christians. And that means ongoing conversion to God’s way of thinking and acting. Do we dare to utter the psalmist’s words for ourselves? To let God sort us out and convert us again and again to his ways? It is one thing to ask him for encouragement to be our best selves. It is another to invite him to reveal to us just what our best self might be." - David Reay

Not Just Idle Words

Deuteronomy 32:46-47 New International Version (NIV) 46  he said to them, “Take to heart all the words I have solemnly declared to you this day,   so that you may command   your children to obey carefully all the words of this law.   47  They are not just idle words for you—they are your life.By them you will live long   in the land you are crossing the Jordan to possess.”

Listen

Hebrews 3:7-8 New Living Translation (NLT) 7  That is why the Holy Spirit says, “Today when you hear his voice, 8       don’t harden your hearts...

Seek...

Matthew 7:7-8 New Living Translation (NLT) Effective Prayer 7  “Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.   8  For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.

The One Who Provides

2 Corinthians 9:10 New Living Translation (NLT) 10  For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, he will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you.

Real Love

1 John 4:7-10 New Living Translation (NLT) Loving One Another 7  Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God.   8  But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love. 9  God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him.   10  This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.

Faithful work

"When you work faithfully, creativity comes faithfully.  Keep showing up — because this is how you never, ever give up." - Ann Voskamp

Future Hope

Jeremiah 29:11 New Life Version (NLV) 11  For I know the plans I have for you,’ says the Lord, ‘plans for well-being and not for trouble, to give you a future and a hope.

Love Poured Over Me

1 Timothy 1: 12-14 MSG I’m so grateful to Christ Jesus for making me adequate to do this work. He went out on a limb, you know, in trusting me with this ministry. The only credentials I brought to it were invective and witch hunts and arrogance. But I was treated mercifully because I didn’t know what I was doing—didn’t know Who I was doing it against! Grace mixed with faith and love poured over me and into me. And all because of Jesus.

Filled With Love

I pray that Christ may live in your hearts by faith. I pray that you will be filled with love. I pray that you will be able to understand how wide and how long and how high and how deep His love is. I pray that you will know the love of Christ. His love goes beyond anything we can understand. I pray that you will be filled with God Himself. Ephesians 3:17-19   NLV

Holy Vessels

"God's time is the best time. But shall we come out the same as we went in? Ah, no!. We "shall come forth as gold." We shall become purer vessels to hold the sweet-smelling incense of praise and prayer. We shall become holy golden vessels for the Master's use in time and in Eternity." - Springs in the Valley (June 6)

Thankfulness

You Are Significant

Matthew 10:30-31 New American Standard Bible (NASB) 30  But   the very hairs of your head are all numbered.   31  So do not fear;   you are more valuable than many sparrows. "Today, God wants you to remember how very valuable you are to Him. He loves you enough to know how many (or few!) hairs are on your head. Even though the tiny sparrows are fed and nourished and loved enough to be fully provided for, you, His son or daughter made in His image, are even more valuable than many sparrows." - Christa Hardin

He Provides

As Matthew 6:25-26, Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?   Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?

Living out Our Life

"Being intimate with God touches the very core of why we were created, and we won’t be satisfied without experiencing it. Jesus prayed that we too would experience this oneness with Him and His Father, living out a life shared in unity with them.  And when we abide in Him and He in us, our Heavenly Father will also be made known." - Brigitte Straub

Speak God's Word

2 Corinthians 2:14-17 New Life Version (NLV) 14  We thank God for the power Christ has given us. He leads us and makes us win in everything. He speaks through us wherever we go. The Good News is like a sweet smell to those who hear it.  15  We are a sweet smell of Christ that reaches up to God. It reaches out to those who are being saved from the punishment of sin and to those who are still lost in sin.  16  It is the smell of death to those who are lost in sin. It is the smell of life to those who are being saved from the punishment of sin. Who is able for such a work?  17  We are not like others. They preach God’s Word to make money. We are men of truth and have been sent by God. We speak God’s Word with Christ’s power. All the time God sees us.

Trust in His Plan

Be Prepared

2 Timothy 4:1-2 NIV In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction.

To pray

"Prayer is not asking. It is a longing of the soul. It is daily admission of one's weakness. It is better in prayer to have a heart without words than words without a heart." -  Mahatma Gandhi

Pray...

"If I feel myself disinclined to pray, then is the time when I need to pray more than ever. Possibly when the soul leaps and exults in communion with God it might more safely refrain from prayer than at those seasons when in drags heavily in devotion." - Charles H. Spurgeon
