A Quiet Soul

Psalm 131:1-3 English Standard Version (ESV) A Song of   Ascents. Of David.  131  O  Lord , my heart is not  lifted up;      my eyes are not  raised too high; I do not  occupy myself with things      too great and  too marvelous for me. 2  But I have calmed and quieted my soul,      like a weaned  child with its mother;      like a weaned child is my soul within me. 3  O Israel, hope in the  Lord      from this time forth and forevermore.

Alone in His Presence

"Alone with God! My soul, invite the art, As One who climbed the heights alone to pray,  And in the gentle stillness, heart to heart,  Let Heaven's dew transform this house of clay."  - Edith Alice Bang

Sing to the Lord

Isaiah 42:10-12 NKJV Sing to the Lord a new song, And His praise from the ends of the earth, You who go down to the sea, and all that is in it, You coastlands and you inhabitants of them! Let the wilderness and its cities lift up their voice, The villages that Kedar inhabits. Let the inhabitants of Sela sing, Let them shout from the top of the mountains. Let them give glory to the Lord , And declare His praise in the coastlands.

Everyone who trusts

Psalm 5:11-12 New Century Version (NCV) But let everyone who trusts you be happy;      let them sing glad songs forever. Protect those who love you      and who are happy because of you. 12  Lord , you bless those who do what is right;      you protect them like a soldier’s shield.

Joy

Psalm 35:27 New Century Version (NCV) May my friends sing and shout for joy.      May they always say, “Praise the greatness of the  Lord ,      who loves to see his servants do well.”

Blessings

Deuteronomy 7:13 NKJV And He will love you and bless you and multiply you; He will also bless the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your land, your grain and your new wine and your oil, the increase of your cattle and the offspring of your flock, in the land of which He swore to your fathers to give you.

The Eternal Rock

"' Stormy wind fulfilling his word ,' and the soul that hears in their tumult the rustling of Almighty Wings praises God for the storm - the storm that swings free from enervating ease; the flood that casts upon the Eternal Rock." - Springs in the Valley (June 27)

Wherever we go...

"Trust that I [God] will equip you fully for whatever awaits you on your journey."  - Sarah Young, Jesus Calling

In Awe

"The instruction for actually living a life of creativity, a life of communion, are simple: Pay Attention. Be Awed by God." - Ann Voskamp

Wait in Silence

“Prayer is not a way of making use of God; prayer is a way of offering ourselves to God in order that He should be able to make use of us. It may be that one of our great faults in prayer is that we talk too much and listen too little. When prayer is at its highest we wait in silence for God's voice to us; we linger in His presence for His peace and His power to flow over us and around us; we lean back in His everlasting arms and feel the serenity of perfect security in Him.” - William Barclay

Persist...

Luke 11:9 New Living Translation (NLT) 9 And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.

Always pray

Luke 18:1 King James Version (KJV) 18  And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; 'That little "ought" is emphatic. It implies obligation as high as heaven. Jesus said, "Men ought always to pray,", and added, "and not to faint."' - Springs in the Valley (June 23)

Always there

Luke 18:7-8 New Century Version (NCV) 7  God will always give what is right to his people who cry to him night and day, and he will not be slow to answer them.  8  I tell you, God will help his people quickly. But when the Son of Man comes again, will he find those on earth who believe in him?”

Well Being

Jeremiah 33:6 English Standard Version (ESV) 6 Behold, I will bring to it health and healing, and I will heal them and reveal to them abundance of prosperity and security.

Rest for the weary...

Seed of Faith

Matthew 17:20 "...Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

Our Shepherd

Psalms 28:6-9 Contemporary English Version I praise you, Lord, for answering my prayers. You are my strong shield, and I trust you completely. You have helped me, and I will celebrate and thank you in song. You give strength to your people, Lord, and you save and protect your chosen ones. Come save us and bless us. Be our shepherd and always carry us in your arms.

A Song

"He, who is Light , who gives the morning signal to every feathered songster to tune his song, will also give you a song that sings." - Springs in the Valley, June 20

Seeing Him

Job 42:1-5 New King James Version (NKJV) 42  Then Job answered the   Lord   and said: 2  “I know that You can do everything, And that no purpose  of Yours  can be withheld from You. 3  You asked,  ‘Who  is  this who hides counsel without knowledge?’ Therefore I have uttered what I did not understand, Things too wonderful for me, which I did not know. 4  Listen, please, and let me speak; You said,  ‘I will question you, and you shall answer Me.’ 5  “I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear, But now my eye sees You.

The Road Ahead

"My Lord God, I have no idea where I am going. I do not see the road ahead of me. I cannot know for certain where it will end...But I believe that the desire to please You does in fact please You. And I hope I have that desire in all that I am doing. I hope that I will never do anything apart from that desire. And I know that if I do this, You will lead me by the right road though I may know nothing about it. Therefore I will trust You always, though I may seem to be lost in the shadow of death. I will not fear, for You are ever with me. And You will never leave me to face my perils alone." - Thomas Merton

Riding Above

"If we want to ride with God upon the heavens, all earth riding must be brought to an end." - Hannah Whithall Smith Lord, open my eyes to You this day...

The Glory of the Lord

Isaiah 40:4-5 New King James Version (NKJV) 4  Every valley shall be exalted And every mountain and hill brought low; The crooked places shall be made straight And the rough places smooth; 5  The glory of the   Lord   shall be revealed, And all flesh shall see   it   together; For the mouth of the   Lord   has spoken.”

Through the Storm

"There are storms that are only dark canvases for God’s lightning glory."  - Ann Voskamp

Those who wait...

29  Isaiah 40:29-31 New King James Version (NKJV) He gives power to the weak, And to  those who have  no might He increases strength. 30  Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall, 31  But those who wait on the  Lord Shall renew  their  strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.

Dare...

"Power is given only to those who dare to lower themselves and pick it up. Only one thing matters, one thing; to be able to dare!" - Fyodor Dostoevsky

Everlasting

1 Peter 1:22-25 New King James Version (NKJV) The Enduring Word 22  Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit   in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart,  23  having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever,  24  because “All flesh   is   as grass, And all the glory of man   as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, And its flower falls away, 25  But the word of the Lord endures forever.”

Every Promise...

'Every promise of Scripture is a writing of God which may be placed before Him in reasonable request. "Do as Thou hast said." The Creator will not cheat the creature who depends upon His truth: and far more the heavenly Father will not break His own word on His own child.' - Charles Spurgeon

The Peace in My Troubled Sea...

'My Lighthouse' by Rend Collective

Our Frailty

Psalm 51:17 New International Version (NIV) 17  My sacrifice,   O God, is [ a ]   a broken spirit;      a broken and contrite heart      you, God, will not despise.

Of the Spirit

John 3:8 New King James Version (NKJV) 8   The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit...

All Sufficient

"The 'air' which our souls need also envelopes all of us at all times and on all sides. God is round about us...on every hand, with many-sided and all sufficient grace." - Ole Hallesby

Take Time

"Take time. Give God time to reveal Himself to you. Give yourself time to be silent and quiet before Him, waiting to receive through the Spirit the assurance of His presence with you, His power working in you. Take time to read His word as in His presence; that from it you may know what He asks of you and what he promises you. Let the Word create around you, create within you, a holy heavenly light in which your soul will be refreshed and strengthened for the work of daily life." - Andrew Murray

Hope

Jeremiah 29:11 Contemporary English Version (CEV) 11  I will bless you with a future filled with hope—a future of success, not of suffering.

Every Hour

"The unthankful heart discovers no mercies; but let the thankful heart sweep through the day and, as the magnet finds the iron, so it will find, in every hour, some heavenly blessings!" - Henry Ward Beecher

Wait

Psalm 37:34 New King James Version (NKJV) 34  Wait on the  Lord , And keep His way, And He shall exalt you to inherit the land; When the wicked are cut off, you shall see  it.

A life of love

"A life contemplating the blessings of Christ becomes a life acting the love of Christ." - Ann Voskamp

Rekindled

"In everyone's life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit." - Albert Schweitzer

Words for the soul

"Only speak words that make souls stronger -- for once words are spoken, they may be forgiven, but may be not forgotten." - Ann Voskamp

Press On

"Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not: nothing is more common than unsuccessful me with talent. Genius will not: unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not: the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and and determination are omnipotent. The slogan "press on" has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race. No person was ever honoured for what he received. Honour has been the reward for what he gave." - Calvin Coolidge

A Shining Light

2 Peter 1: 19-21 New International Version (NIV) 19  We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable,  and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light  shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star  rises in your hearts.   20  Above all, you must understand  that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things.   21  For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God  as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

Quietly Sowing

James 3:17-18 J.B. Phillips New Testament (PHILLIPS) 17-18  The wisdom that comes from God is first utterly pure, then peace-loving, gentle, approachable, full of tolerant thoughts and kindly actions, with no breath of favouritism or hint of hypocrisy. And the wise are peace-makers who go on quietly sowing for a harvest of righteousness—in other people and in themselves.

Every Effort

2 Peter 1:6-9 New International Version (NIV) 5  For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge;   6  and to knowledge, self-control;  and to self-control, perseverance;  and to perseverance, godliness;   7  and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love.   8  For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive  in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.   9  But whoever does not have them is nearsighted and blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins.

Live Fully

"It is not a difficult matter to learn what it means to delight ourselves in the Lord. It is to live so as to please Him, to honour everything we find in His word, to do everything the way He would like to have it done, and for Him." - S. Maxwell Coder

Living Waters

"Are there not "hidden rivers" flowing under the crowded streets... of life? Keep your roots deep in the living waters."  - Springs in the Valley, June 3

Are We Prepared?

Mark 14:3 King James Version (KJV) 3 ... there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she brake the box, and poured it on his head.   ". ..in the anointing our Lord saw an exact illustration of what He , Himself, was about to do. He put Mary's act alongside His own cross. Are we prepared to pour out our lives for him? Our Lord is carried beyond Himself with joy when He sees any of us doing what Mary of Bethany did." - Oswald Chambers

Freedom from Anxiety

1 Peter 5:7 New International Version (NIV) 7  Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

Life for Us

1 Corinthians 15:20-23 New Life Version (NLV) 20 But it is true! Christ has been raised from the dead! He was the first One to be raised from the dead and all those who are in graves will follow. 21 Death came because of a man, Adam. Being raised from the dead also came because of a Man, Christ. 22 All men will die as Adam died. But all those who belong to Christ will be raised to new life. 23 This is the way it is: Christ was raised from the dead first. Then all those who belong to Christ will be raised from the dead when He comes again.

Refuge

Psalm 18:30 New International Version (NIV) 30  As for God, his way is perfect:      The  Lord ’s word is flawless;      he shields  all who take refuge  in him.
