Light and Truth

Psalm 43:3-4 New King James Version (NKJV) 3  Oh, send out Your light and Your truth! Let them lead me; Let them bring me to Your holy hill And to Your tabernacle. 4  Then I will go to the altar of God, To God my exceeding joy; And on the harp I will praise You, O God, my God.

Only Today

"The other evening I found myself staggering alone under a load that was heavy enough to crush half a dozen strong men. Out of sheer exhaustion I put it down and had a good look at it. I found that it was all borrowed; part of it belonged to the following day; part of it belonged to the following week - and here was I borrowing that it might crush me now ! It is a very stupid, but a very ancient blunder." - F. W. Boreham

A Harvest

James 3:18  And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.

To Believe

“Keep your dreams alive. Understand to achieve anything requires faith and belief in yourself, vision, hard work, determination, and dedication. Remember all things are possible for those who believe.“ - Gail Devers

In All Things...

Psalm 103:1-5 New Living Translation (NLT) 1  Let all that I am praise the Lord ;      with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name. 2  Let all that I am praise the Lord ;      may I never forget the good things he does for me. 3  He forgives all my sins      and heals all my diseases. 4  He redeems me from death      and crowns me with love and tender mercies. 5  He fills my life with good things.      My youth is renewed like the eagle’s!

Renewed...

It was when Job's glory was fresh in him that his "bow was renewed" in his hand. Freshness and glory! And yet, the brilliant music of these words is brought down to a minor strain by the little touch "it was " - not it is. - Springs in the Valley (September 25)

I Pray

Psalm 118:25-28 New King James Version (NKJV) 25  Save now, I pray, O  Lord ; O  Lord , I pray, send now prosperity. 26  Blessed  is  he who comes in the name of the  Lord ! We have blessed you from the house of the  Lord . 27  God  is  the  Lord , And He has given us light; Bind the sacrifice with cords to the horns of the altar. 28  You  are  my God, and I will praise You; You are  my God, I will exalt You.

Search me...

Psalm 139:23-24 New Living Translation (NLT) 23 Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. 24 Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life

The Path

"Set me like a star before the morning.., Like a sun that steals the darkness from a world asleep And I'll illuminate the path You've laid before me... But for now just let me be."  - Audrey Assad, Show Me

Guard Your Heart

Proverbs 4:23 New Living Translation (NLT) 23  Guard your heart above all else,      for it determines the course of your life. It all starts in the heart. When you feel yourself getting frustrated or irritated quickly pray, “Lord, guard my heart.” Ask Him to help you let any injury or insult slide off you. Don’t pick up the hurt and take it home. - C. Colvin

Be like Christ

“Do all the good you can. By all the means you can. In all the ways you can. In all the places you can. At all the times you can. To all the people you can. As long as ever you can.” - John Wesley

His Servant

Psalm 116:16-17 New King James Version (NKJV) 16  O  Lord , truly I  am  Your servant; I  am  Your servant, the son of Your maidservant; You have loosed my bonds. 17  I will offer to You the sacrifice of thanksgiving, And will call upon the name of the  Lord .

Finding Rest

Matthew 11:29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

The Great Creator

"Why does God want His people to Worship Him? Well, one answer is because worship is the right response to God as He Is. When great mountaineers are asked 'Why do you want to climb Everest?' they reply 'Because it is there!' So it is with worshippers. We worship God because He exists and because He is who He is - the great Creator God." - Selwyn Hughes

The Heavenly Country

Hebrews 11:13-16 Good News Translation (GNT) 13  It was in faith that all these persons died. They did not receive the things God had promised, but from a long way off they saw them and welcomed them, and admitted openly that they were foreigners and refugees on earth. 14  Those who say such things make it clear that they are looking for a country of their own. 15  They did not keep thinking about the country they had left; if they had, they would have had the chance to return. 16  Instead, it was a better country they longed for, the heavenly country. And so God is not ashamed for them to call him their God, because he has prepared a city for them.

For this Purpose

Romans 9:17-21 New King James Version (NKJV) 17  For the Scripture says to the Pharaoh,  “For this very purpose I have raised you up, that I may show My power in you, and that My name may be declared in all the earth.”  18  Therefore He has mercy on whom He wills, and whom He wills He hardens. 19  You will say to me then, “Why does He still find fault? For who has resisted His will?”  20  But indeed, O man, who are you to reply against God? Will the thing formed say to him who formed  it , “Why have you made me like this?”  21  Does not the potter have power over the clay, from the same lump to make one vessel for honor and another for dishonor?

The Revelation

"The revelation awaits our arrival at a certain place in the road, and when Time brings us to that place, and we enter into it's experiences, we shall find, to our delighted surprise, that it has become luminous." - Springs in the Valley (September 18)

His Secret Place

"Let not the greatest pressure of business divert thee from God....  Hide thee in His secret place when storms are high.  ... We need to be quiet to get the ear of God!"  - Springs in the Valley, Sept 19.

Afterward...

Hebrews 12:11 New King James Version (NKJV) 11  Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.

Fully Trusting Him

Hebrews 10:19-22 New Living Translation (NLT) A Call to Persevere 19  And so, dear brothers and sisters, [ a ] we can boldly enter heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus. 20  By his death, [ b ] Jesus opened a new and life-giving way through the curtain into the Most Holy Place. 21  And since we have a great High Priest who rules over God’s house, 22  let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him. For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water.

Ready For Anything...

Philippians 4:12-13 J.B. Phillips New Testament (PHILLIPS) Nor do I mean that I have been in actual need, for I have learned to be content, whatever the circumstances may be. I know now how to live when things are difficult and I know how to live when things are prosperous. In general and in particular I have learned the secret of facing either poverty or plenty. I am ready for anything through the strength of the one who lives within me.

Healing

Malachi 4:2 King James Version (KJV) 2  But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.

Every Effort

Romans 14:17-17 (NIV) 17 For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, 18 because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and approved by men. 19 Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification.

Lead by the Light...

There is a Season

Ecclesiastes 3:1-15 AMP  TO EVERYTHING there is a season, and a time for every matter or purpose under heaven: A time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to pluck up what is planted, [Heb. 9:27.] A time to kill and a time to heal, a time to break down and a time to build up, A time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, A time to cast away stones and a time to gather stones together, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, A time to get and a time to lose, a time to keep and a time to cast away, A time to rend and a time to sew, a time to keep silence and a time to speak, [Amos 5:13.] A time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace. [Luke 14:26.] What profit remains for the worker from his toil? I have seen the painful labor and exertion and miserable business which God has given to the sons of men with which to exercise and busy themselves. He has made everything beautiful in its time. He also...

Such a time as this...

Esther 4:13-15  New King James Version (NKJV) 13  And Mordecai told  them  to answer Esther: “Do not think in your heart that you will escape in the king’s palace any more than all the other Jews.  14  For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for  such  a time as this?”

He Goes Before Us

Matthew 28:1-10 English Standard Version (ESV) The Resurrection 28  Now after the Sabbath, toward the dawn of the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb. 2  And behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone and sat on it. 3  His appearance was like lightning, and his clothing white as snow. 4  And for fear of him the guards trembled and became like dead men. 5  But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. 6  He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he [ a ] lay. 7  Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and behold, he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him. See, I have told you.” 8  So they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples. 9  ...

As You Journey...

"He is there before you. He will bring you to your appointed place and give you your appointed resources. ... You may not always see Him, but you can walk by faith in the dark, if you know that He sees you, and you can sing as you journey, even through the night." - John Macbeath

A United Heart

Psalm 86:10-11 Amplified Bible (AMP) 10  For You are great and work wonders! You alone are God. 11  Teach me Your way, O Lord, that I may walk and live in Your truth; direct and unite my heart [solely, reverently] to fear and honor Your name.

I Lift My Eyes...

"I lift my eyes to the hills where my help is found Your voice fills the night – raise my head up and hear the sound Though fires burn all around me I will praise You, my God and the foxes in the vineyard will not steal my joy." - Audrey Assad

The One I Trust

2 Timothy 1:12 The Message (MSG) 11-12  This is the Message I’ve been set apart to proclaim as preacher, emissary, and teacher. It’s also the cause of all this trouble I’m in. But I have no regrets. I couldn’t be more sure of my ground—the One I’ve trusted in can take care of what he’s trusted me to do right to the end.

The Power of Words

James 3:9-12 The Message (MSG) 7-10  This is scary: You can tame a tiger, but you can’t tame a tongue—it’s never been done. The tongue runs wild, a wanton killer. With our tongues we bless God our Father; with the same tongues we curse the very men and women he made in his image. Curses and blessings out of the same mouth! 10-12  My friends, this can’t go on. A spring doesn’t gush fresh water one day and brackish the next, does it? Apple trees don’t bear strawberries, do they? Raspberry bushes don’t bear apples, do they? You’re not going to dip into a polluted mud hole and get a cup of clear, cool water, are you?

Winds Divine

"O soul of mine, spread wide thy wings: Mount up; push out with courage strong! And - like a bird which, soaring, sings -  Let heaven vibrate with thy song! SREAD WIDE THY WINGS,                   O SOUL OF MINE,  For God will ever faithful be: His love shall guide thee; winds divine Shall waft thee o'er this troubled sea."  - Robert Crumbly

To Trust

"Reach up as far as you can, and God will reach down the rest of the way."  - Bishop Vincent

The Most Important Gift

1 Corinthians 13:1-13 AMP If I [can] speak in the tongues of men and [even] of angels, but have not love (that reasoning, intentional, spiritual devotion such as is inspired by God's love for and in us), I am only a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers (the gift of interpreting the divine will and purpose), and understand all the secret truths and mysteries and possess all knowledge, and if I have [sufficient] faith so that I can remove mountains, but have not love (God's love in me) I am nothing (a useless nobody). Even if I dole out all that I have [to the poor in providing] food, and if I surrender my body to be burned or in order that I may glory , but have not love (God's love in me), I gain nothing. Love endures long and is patient and kind; love never is envious nor boils over with jealousy, is not boastful or vainglorious, does not display itself haughtily. It is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride); it is not rude (unmannerl...

To Truly Give

Deuteronomy 15:4-8 New King James Version (NKJV) 4.       ....  for the  Lord  will greatly bless you in the land which the Lord your God is giving you to possess as an  inheritance—  5  only if you carefully obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe with care all these commandments which I command you today.  6  For the Lord your God will bless you just as He promised you; you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow; you shall reign over many nations, but they shall not reign over you. Generosity to the Poor 7  “If there is among you a poor man of your brethren, within any of the gates in your land which the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not harden your heart nor shut your hand from your poor brother,  8  but you shall open your hand wide to him and willingly lend him sufficient for his need, whatever he needs.

Things Above

Colossians 3:1-2 New King James Version (NKJV) Not Carnality but Christ 3  If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God.  2  Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.

Walk in Him

Colossians 2:6-7 New King James Version (NKJV) 6  As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him,  7  rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it   with thanksgiving.

A Trusting Heart

Life has outgrown Faith's childish way, The proud and scoffing Folk insist; And so they laugh At all who say God's miracle's exist. Well, let them laugh! The trusting heart Has joys which they Know naught thereof. And, daily, miracles are wrought For us who hold to Faith and love!  - Miracles: John Richard Moreland

A Christ Devoted Life

"This experience of Christ our Sanctifier, marks a definite and distinct crisis in the history of a soul. We do not grow into it, but we cross a definite line of demarcation, as clear as when the hosts of Joshua crossed the Jordan and were over in the promised land, and set up a great heap of stones, so that they never could forget that crisis hour."  - A. B. Simpson

All Things...

Romans 8:28 New Living Translation (NLT) 28  And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.

Pray and Believe

Mark 9:21-24 New Living Translation (NLT) 21  “How long has this been happening?” Jesus asked the boy’s father. He replied, “Since he was a little boy. 22  The spirit often throws him into the fire or into water, trying to kill him. Have mercy on us and help us, if you can.” 23  “What do you mean, ‘If I can’?” Jesus asked. “Anything is possible if a person believes.” 24  The father instantly cried out, “I do believe, but help me overcome my unbelief!”

Gifts from the Father

Psalm 84:11 New Living Translation (NLT) 11  For the  Lord  God is our sun and our shield.      He gives us grace and glory. The  Lord  will withhold no good thing      from those who do what is right.

New Frontiers

Nehemiah 9:19-22 New International Version (NIV) 19  “Because of your great compassion you did not abandon  them in the wilderness. By day the pillar of cloud  did not fail to guide them on their path, nor the pillar of fire by night to shine on the way they were to take.   20  You gave your good Spirit  to instruct  them. You did not withhold your manna  from their mouths, and you gave them water  for their thirst.   21  For forty years  you sustained them in the wilderness; they lacked nothing,  their clothes did not wear out nor did their feet become swollen. 22  “You gave them kingdoms and nations, allotting to them even the remotest frontiers...
